Courtney Hannaford, RRT

Registered Respiratory Therapist
Manager, Respiratory Services

Hi! My name is Courtney Hannaford. I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and I have been working at HorizonAire since 2018. I graduated from the Respiratory Therapy program at College of the North Atlantic in June of 2017, and since then, I have worked in both hospital and homecare/clinic settings. I am in good standings with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT), the Newfoundland & Labrador College of Respiratory Therapists (NLCRT) and the Newfoundland & Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP).

Helping people is something in which I take great pride. Practicing Respiratory Therapy allows me to make a difference in the lives of my patients by improving their overall health and wellness. I am always eager to learn new things to further myself in my career and provide the best possible care that my patients deserve.

When I am not at work, I enjoy going for walks with my dog, reading a good book and spending time with friends and family. I love that the team here at HorizonAire is continuously collaborating to meet every patient’s needs. We are here for you!

April Williams, RRT

Registered Respiratory Therapist

I am one of the Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) working at HorizonAire. Originally from the west coast of Newfoundland, now living in St. John’s since 2006, I consider myself the right amount of townie and baywoman rolled into one. I graduated from the Respiratory Therapy program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in June of 2018. I am in good standings with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT), Newfoundland and Labrador College of Respiratory Therapists (NLCRT) and Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP). Since graduation, I have been lucky enough to work in both hospital and personal homecare settings, and I have been working with HorizonAire since early 2019.

I take great joy and satisfaction in my career, knowing that I am improving the quality of life of the people in our community. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always known that I wanted to work in a place that cares for other people and to assist when they are unwell. I consider myself very fortunate to have found a career that allows me to do that. In my free time, I like to be active and outside enjoying the fresh air! Snowboarding is my favourite pastime in the winter, but my other activities include running, camping, hiking, Ultimate Frisbee and hanging out with my furry friends. Aside from my career, environmental conservation is another one of my passions. It is just as important to keep the health of our planet intact as it is for each individual to stay happy and healthy.

Colette Fowler, RRT

Registered Respiratory Therapist

My name is Colette Fowler. I am proudly from the big land of Labrador and have been living in St. John’s since 2013. I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). I graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Respiratory Therapy Program in June of 2019. I am in good standings with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT), the Newfoundland & Labrador College of Respiratory Therapists (NLCRT) and the Newfoundland & Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP).

Since graduation, I have worked in the hospital setting, as well as the home care setting starting with HorizonAire in 2020. Helping people is a huge reason why I decided to become a Respiratory Therapist and working at HorizonAire lets me do exactly that.

When I am not at work, I enjoy watching and playing different sports. Typically, tennis in the summer and snowboarding in the winter. I also enjoy watching my favourite TV shows and spending time with family and friends.

I love being a part of the HorizonAire team!

Sarah Anderson, RRT

Registered Respiratory Therapist

Hello! I’m Sarah Anderson and I’m a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with HorizonAire. I have specialized in oxygen therapy and sleep therapy since starting my respiratory career in June of 2017 when I graduated from the Respiratory Therapy program at College of the North Atlantic.

I am in good standings with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT), the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Respiratory Therapists (NLCRT) and the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP). I consider myself to be a strong patient advocate. I always have the best interests of my patients in mind, and will work hard to ensure they receive the care they deserve.

When I am not at work I enjoy being outdoors; hiking, walking my dog or swimming.

I am proud to be a HorizonAire teammate!

Taylor Ryan, RRT

Registered Respiratory Therapist

Hi, I’m Taylor! I’m a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and I started with the HorizonAire Team in 2022.

I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to work in both hospital and home care settings, gaining experience with both adult and pediatric patients. Becoming a RT has allowed me to find my passion and to grow as an individual who can make an impact on my patients quality of life by sharing my compassion, knowledge, and expertise.

When I’m not working, I enjoy taking my new puppy for a walk, spending time on the river salmon fishing, cuddling up on the couch with my cat reading a good book, and spending time with my family and friends.

I am proud to be apart of the team here at  HorizonAire!

Stacey Holloway, RRT

Registered Respiratory Therapist

Hi! I’m Stacey, one of the Respiratory Therapists (RRT) working here at HorizonAire.  I am a 2012 graduate of the Respiratory Therapy Program at the College of the North Atlantic.  I am in good standing with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT), Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP) and the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Respiratory Therapists (NLCRT).

Throughout my year as an RRT, I have worked mostly with CPAP and oxygen therapy but spent a year or so working in critical care.  My true passion is in the home care setting.  I enjoy establishing one on one relationships with my clients.  I love being that familiar face who provides the knowledge and comfort to help my clients succeed with their therapy.

In my free time, you will find me enjoying the great outdoors.  In the summer, I’m in my garden or at the nearest greenhouse (buying way too many flowers) and in the winter months I’m searching for powder on my snowmobile.  I love socializing with family and friends and spending relaxing weekends snuggled up to my furry feline, Louie.

I am honored to be part of such a great team of hard working individuals here at HorizonAire!

Justin St.Croix

Biomedical Engineering Technologist

I started working with HorizonAire in early December of 2021. This is my first position as a Biomedical Engineering Technologist as I recently graduated from the program at the College of the North Atlantic in June of 2020.

I grew up in Mount Pearl but consider myself a baymen as both of my parents are from St. Mary’s Bay and that is where I spent most of my childhood.

Helping people is always something I was passionate about growing up. Being able to help others and put a smile on their face is enough to make me happy knowing that I am helping them in a positive way. I’m a very outgoing individual who will never settle for less than I am capable of and I think that there is always room for learning and improvement.

When I am not at work, I like to play hockey, go for a ride on my skidoo, relax with my dog and two kittens, and spend some time with family and friends!

I love working with the HorizonAire team!

John Pike

General Manager

E-mail: jpike@horizonaire.ca

Hi, my name is John Pike. I’m the boss, sometimes…lol! My Dad was a small business owner of a bicycle shop for 50+ years (Pike’s Cycle Stores’), so I’ve been working since I was old enough to pedal a tricycle. But seriously, I started working full time in the family business not long after high school, and I also completed some post-secondary business courses – and to this day, my father (whose strong work ethic and commitment to providing dependable customer service) continues to be my role model. Running a business is part of my DNA.

I realized early on that I enjoyed a challenge. My Dad tasked me with finding a revenue stream for the slow winter months in the bike shop, and I started a wheelchair sales/repair/service division (bicycle and wheelchair mechanics were remarkably similar back then). It became quite successful. In fact, so successful that in 1982, I branched out to start my own healthcare company. There were many challenges along the way, and eventually, I founded HorizonAire in 1996. I realized then that our niche was ‘air’ – medical oxygen services and CPAP therapy – and frankly, I have never looked back. We will be 25 in 2021, and I’m proud that the company is still growing and evolving with new technology.

What’s the best lesson I’ve learned? Hire the right people. Every HorizonAire employee is handpicked for their education, experience, friendliness and professionalism. I also insist on at least some retail experience; in my opinion, it’s the best way to learn what customer service is all about.

If you’re ever dissatisfied in any way with the service at HorizonAire, let me know, and I’ll make it right. My Dad would want it that way.

In my spare time, you’ll find me enjoying the great outdoors, RV-ing mostly, listening to my playlist, sitting around a campfire, and having a smile with my wife, family and friends, and of course Zoey, our four-legged buddy.
